The schedule is now online for this year’s Ottawa International Animation Festival. The National Capital’s biggest film event runs September 18-22 this year, which provides just enough time for festivalgoers to recharge their batteries after TIFF. The schedule includes both the showtimes for festival screenings and the time slots for networking events/industry stuff in the festival’s TAC portion (Television Animation Conference). Opening night kicks off September 18 at The ByTowne with screenings of the feature competition film Approved for Adoption (Couleur de peau: miel) and the films in Short Competition 1. TAC events, meanwhile, are mostly held at the Museum of Nature this year, which means that festivalgoers can harass the dinosaurs during cocktail hours and breaks. Don’t worry, there are plenty of dinosaurs at The ByTowne, too, especially on Sundays.

Other notable screenings include a trio of showtimes of A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Graham Chapman, so Monty Python fans in the 613 have ample opportunity to see the film; two screenings of the Canadian Showcase short film programme, which gives festivalgoers their weekly serving of CanCon; and a special screening of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 with Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn in attendance. Bring spaghetti, but please leave your cell phones in the car.

In addition to competition screenings and sneak peeks, there are plenty of showcases and special screenings of works from students, international filmmakers, and First Nations filmmakers. There are also Pimpcasts, parties, and plenty of fun things for families. (Some of which are free for youngsters, fyi.) Check out all the good stuff for yourself, as the full festival line-up is available on the OIAF website. Start planning!
