About

Update: Please note that Pat is not accepting pitches indefinitely.

Cinemablographer is a Toronto-based film blog written by Pat Mullen. Pat began Cinemablographer in 2010 as a writing exercise before going off to pursue a Master's in Film Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, where his studies focused on adaptation and Canadian cinema. Pat strives to cover Canadian film within the larger beat of world cinema, independent film, and Hollywood popcorn.

Pat also dabbles in the awards races and enjoys covering film festivals such as TIFF, Hot Docs, and the Ottawa International Animation Festival, among others. Pat also works as the associate online editor and production coordinator of  POV Magazine, Canada's premiere magazine on documentary culture, and has contributed to the Canadian Encyclopedia, Beatroute, Paste, Documentary Magazine, the Online Film Critics Society, Couch Assassin, and Awards Daily. Pat was also a founding member and programmer at Ottawa's Cellar Door Film Festival from 2013-2015.

Please note that Cinemablographer is on hiatus. Although links to content on other sites will continue to be posted here, Pat is not currently accepting pitches in an effort to concentrate on freelancing and work life balance. Thank you for understanding.
